Helping
Without
volunteers it would be almost impossible for The Luci Center
to exist. The many helping hands and hearts walk beside our riders,
support them as they face incredible challenges, groom the horses,
saddle up, muck the stalls, help at fundraisers and offer energy
and love beyond what would ever be expected. The Luci Center
is proud of the many volunteers that have given thousands of
hours in support of the program, please take a moment and return
a completed volunteer information form, all potential volunteers
must attend volunteer training (check the schedule on our home
page for details), there are two types of training, general and
leader.
General training consists of safety issues grooming, tacking
up a horse, familiarization with the barn and being around
horses. No matter how much horse knowledge an individual has
there are
different types of equipment and safety considerations. Volunteers
are also trained in mounting and dismounting procedures and
sidewalking with a rider.
Leader training is held for those individuals that are interested
in learning how to lead a horse safely and effectively. Leaders
have the responsibility similar to having the keys to a car
and driving down the road. There are fine points that do not
require
strength or brawn when leading a horse remember that the leader
is responsible for the quality of movement from the horse as
well as safety.
Please consider being a part of a team that takes a positive approach
to changing lives through connecting those with special challenges
and horses.
